This is a montage from the documentary "Hells Angels Forever," featuring a few NYC Hells Angels members and a scene from E.3rd Street headquarters (8:43). I think I recognize president Sandy Alexander (:30, 9:12, etc.) and "Big" Vinnie Giorlamo (:07, :26, etc.) -- can anyone confirm if that is indeed them?
cool vid. There is no mistaking Big Vinnie but i dont think most of us know what sandy alexander looks like. guess we have to rent the movie
ReplyDeleteSandy is the one who pulls out from the camp ground right after big Vinny in the beginning of this movie. R.I.P. Sandy although you did not die an angel you will always be remembered as one.
DeleteIt's an interesting movie. You should watch it. It is intended to be a sympathetic portrait, but is also quite revealing.
ReplyDeletepretty sure at 3:10 (around there) is sandy alexander. he is wearing black and has a brown bandana on riding his bike. the sissy bar on his bike dug into my back on a trip around that same time I took with them from ny to ohio for some reunion. yes in the beginning that was big vinnie and the thinner guy w/brown beard is either sonny barger I think...either that or mike the bike. I thought they were great guys...I was only 17 then. those were the days. it's my understanding sandy passed away a few years ago and I remember reading that vinnie had also passed.
ReplyDeleteThat's him.And in the movie Hells Angels forever he's one of the guys casually talking to the cops at the party when their having the pig roast.O
Deletene of the cops says take it easy sandy as they leave.
Big vinnie did pass, after a dispute in california, made it back to new york, only to die of a ruptured spleen? I understand by his own "brothers"?
ReplyDeleteI can confirm that it is Vinnie at 00:30. As to Sandy, I believe that the above comment is correct although my memory of him has faded. Sandy was always kind to me (I ran the flower shop on St Marks Pl in those years) Vinnie was a pure psychopath who was charged in the 70's with a brutal torture and killing in a brownstone in NY. The Village Voice wrote a big article about it in the 70's but it is not in their web archive (too old)
ReplyDeleteMark I think I ran the same flower shop. I also Knew a bunch of the 3rd St crew. Was the flower shop owned by Fat David. It used to be a Shoeshine stand when it started
ReplyDeletetruly missed, my dad took me to see that movie "HELLS ANGELS FOREVER" he was larger than life. not many like him have passed through this world RIP, and Angels never die.
ReplyDeleteYour observation's correct my man. It's both Sandy and Vinnie respectively. I should know...I was there.
ReplyDeleteI was on the ship in the Movie with my sister, and my mom who had dated Sandy. I was about 10 yrs old and remember Bo Didley improvised a song using my sister's name; it was so cool. I was alittle scared of the bikers, but in a way I felt safe, like nobodies gonna mess with us while we're with the Angle's.
ReplyDeleteAND COLETTE DIDNT KNOCK THE SHIT OUTTA HER ???
DeleteI am laughing now cause Collette is my cousin, and ya she'd beat anybody! Spent two weeks there in NYC in the 70's - as a 15 yr old kid. Good humor ice cream right next door, what a trip. Eric (my nephew) ran the street though he was a little kid. The old days!
DeleteThose "Pirate Balls" were really something else. Take a whiff take a whiff take a whiff on meeeeeeeee." Man. That and Nasty Bo Diddley. They call me nasty, I'm a nasty man....
